So Sweet
A Creative Landscape
My daughter, who is in her 40’s, made me smile. We were discussing having a meal together, a weekend brunch. I suggested a local place that we both like. She suggested, how about Cafe Mama? I was taken a back a little. I asked, “and where is that?” “Why, your place.” Of course, my place.
Therefore, I did a bit of shopping in order to have available some of my, and her, favorites. I drove to a local bakery for an almond croissant each. I drove to the grocery and got bacon, potatoes, eggs, and fresh fruit. There was orange juice at home, milk and tea. I certainly had adequate supplies to create a simple brunch.
Once at home, I quickly settled on hot tea, bacon, an almond croissant each, fresh fruit and fruit juice. As it has been a rainy weekend, sitting across the table from one another at my place was certainly preferable to a restaurant filled with people. It was indeed a delightful brunch—not better than my favorite restaurant, but more quiet and relaxed. We were able to put the kettle on, drink tea and talk. This is precious time with a delightful person, who happens to be my daughter.
The potatoes I had purchased were boiled but not used, nor the eggs. These were placed into the refrigerator for another meal.
This meal will happen soon as I have invited my daughter to join me for brunch again tomorrow. Happily she has agreed. So, the conversations over tea will continue.
More than building memories with such happy events, I believe that our creative and relational landscapes are greatly nurtured by such moments.
I certainly hope that you have your own people, times and places where these wonderful things happen.
